ARCO stands for Analysis-Ready Cloud-Optimized, a framework to structure and store geospatial [[Data|data]] more efficiently by:
1) making them uniform,
2) organizing them into smaller subsets.
This allows for any part of a dataset to instantly be made viewable and available to users for quick download. ARCO data processing is especially useful for remote sensing, environmental and climate science, and AI applications.
ARCO is not a format but a way to structure [[Data|data]], and is usually based on other formats like [[Zarr]] and [[NetCDF]].
