Keyboard tenting is the fact of positioning a keyboard such that the palms rest at an angle instead of horizontal when using the keyboard. Most ergonomic keyboards include some kind of tenting by default or instead provide a way to tent it with tenting kits.
The basic idea behind tenting the keyboard is reducing [[Hand Pronation|hand pronation]], and has been mostly pursued after [[Dr Karl Kroemer]] proved in its 1972 study *Human Engineering the Keyboard* that tenting the keyboard at a 45º angle was beneficial and reduced straining.
