Las Perlitas is a blend of different smallholders from Antioquía, [[Colombia]], roasted by [[Casino Mocca]], that [[Cris Perdiguer|Cris]] brought me from her trip to [[Budapest]]. The taste notes are orange zest, table grape and fudge. As per the roaster: >Smallholders often produce lots that aren’t large enough to be exported on their own. However, the quality is usually just as good (or better) as in larger lots. Hence, our partner in [[Colombia]] decided to create a micro-region blend from various small producers’ [[Chiroso]] microlots in the Urrao region, in the Department of Antioquia. The [[Chiroso]] arabica variety was discovered in Urrao in the early 2000s. Its popularity skyrocketed when a [[Chiroso]] batch won first place in the 2014 Cup of Excellence competition. Initially believed to be a mutation of Bourbon, research has connected its origin to [[Ethiopia|Ethiopian]] landraces.
