German-American [[Modern Architecture|modernist architect]] born in 1886 in [[Aachen]], [[Germany]]. A director of the [[Bauhaus]] and pioneer of glass-and-steel architecture, he championed the principle "less is more" in landmark buildings like the [[Barcelona Pavilion - Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1929)|Barcelona Pavilion]] and the Seagram Building. Died 1969.
