French [[Dada|Dadaist]] artist born in 1887 in [[Blainville-Crevon]], [[France]]. His invention of the readymade — most famously *Fountain* (1917) — radically challenged definitions of art and profoundly influenced [[Conceptual Art]] for the rest of the twentieth century. Died 1968.
