While removing the old ones, it seems almost impossible, and I planned on using some sort of acetone or alcohol. However, reading the instructions that came with the new one, turns out these shelves usually can be removed by **applying heat on them** to soften the adhesive, using a hair dryer (or, as I did, a standing iron).
