This is a summary with some clarifications of what can be found in OCLP’s documentation

  • Download the GUI application from the GitHub releases. This guide was done on the MacBook Pro 13” 2014 using OCLP version 0.4.10.
  • Use the built-in macOS installer downloader to get the installation means for the new system. The installer will be added to the Applications folder.
  • Create the installation media using the menu entry. You will need a 16GB or more USB, and I was not able to boot from an USB SD card reader, so you need an actual USB. It will be formated.
  • Once the installation is done, use the Build and Install OpenCore entry menu to compile the patch and install it on the USB drive.
  • Boot from the USB drive by pressing Option while booting the system. Select the entry with the OpenCore Legacy Patcher icon and then the installer.
  • It should boot right into the recovery menu of the installer. Format the disk if needed, and install the new version as usual.
  • Once everything is done, download the GUI again and use Build and Install OpenCore on the computer’s drive.
  • Boot again without USB, and choose the OCLP icon while pressing Ctrl to set as the default option.
