Keyboard tenting is the fact of positioning a keyboard such that the palms rest at an angle instead of horizontal when using the keyboard. Most ergonomic keyboards include some kind of tenting by default or instead provide a way to tent it with tenting kits.

The basic idea behind tenting the keyboard is reducing hand pronation, and has been mostly pursued after Dr Karl Kroemer proved in its 1972 study Human Engineering the Keyboard that tenting the keyboard at a 45º angle was beneficial and reduced straining.
