Welded steel, canvas, fabric, rawhide, copper wire, and soot, 6’ 8 1/4” × 7’ 5” × 34 3/4” (203.6 × 226 × 88 cm). A monumental relief sculpture with a deep, dark void at its center, stretching salvaged canvas and fabric over welded steel frames. Bontecou’s mysterious, menacing forms evoke jet engines, craters, and organic cavities.
